Seven residues, Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, analogous to the ACTH(4-10) fragment but without ACTH's hormonal activity. The Institute of Molecular Genetics at the Russian Academy of Sciences developed it, and the Russian Federation registers it as a prescription pharmaceutical. Reconstituting Semax
The vial arrives as a freeze-dried cake. It becomes a solution once bacteriostatic water goes in, and how much you add is what decides the strength of that solution. The quantity in the vial never changes, only the volume it is spread through.

How to reconstitute Semax?
Let it warm to room temperature, wipe the stopper, then send the bacteriostatic water down the side of the glass instead of onto the powder. Roll it until it clears; never shake it. Concentration follows from the volume you picked, so on the 5mg vial, 1ml gives 5 mg/ml, 2ml gives 2.5 mg/ml, 3ml gives 1.67 mg/ml, 5ml gives 1 mg/ml.
How to reconstitute Semax 10mg?
Whatever volume goes in, the 10mg lands somewhere on this scale: 1ml gives 10 mg/ml, 2ml gives 5 mg/ml, 3ml gives 3.33 mg/ml, 5ml gives 2 mg/ml. Our Semax comes in 5mg. The sum does not care which vial it is, though: label milligrams over millilitres added.
How should it be handled?
- Let a refrigerated vial reach room temperature first.
- Wipe the stopper with an alcohol swab every time you go in.
- Aim the water at the glass wall so it runs down, not straight onto the cake.
- Roll it gently between your fingers. Shaking makes foam, and foam is damaged protein.
- Give it a few minutes to go into solution. Done properly it finishes clear.
